About the Cheese
Fourme D’Ambert is a classic French blue cheese, one of the oldest in France with origins dating back to Roman times.
This firm yet creamy cheese has a distinctive cylinder shape and elegant mushroomy flavour. The creamy white interior, veined with dark green-blue mould, offers a moist texture with a savoury tanginess and a touch of sweetness.
Awarded PDO status in 1972, its production follows strict guidelines, including the requirement that cows graze on regional pastures.
Rich and creamy with a lingering, mild-to-medium blue bite, Fourme D’Ambert is perfect for pairing with medium-bodied red wines or dessert wines like Banyuls.
