Hua Xiang is a small leaf varietal primarily used in producing Hong cha black tea, such as premium unsmoked Lapsang Souchong. It is prized for its heavenly floral aroma after oxidation, but is challenging to control and make into other styles of tea. This stubborn leaf variety provides an excellent opportunity for Master Ye Ruyu to fully harness its potential by transforming it into a Yancha. Its floral bouquet is comprised of many different flowers in a single sip!
In 2026 we celebrate our ninth year working with the Ye family of Wuyishan: Master Ye Qitong, who led the creation of the national standard samples for Wuyi Yancha, and his sister Master Ye Ruyu, founder of Yan Zhu. We are honored to serve as the first exclusive international ambassador of Master Ye Qitong’s brand.
