About the Cheese
Blue Murder is a mould-ripened blue of real seduction: soft, creamy and unapologetically indulgent. Fine threads of blue weave through a velvety white paste, giving a flavour that is gently meaty, satisfyingly sweet and wonderfully rounded. Made in square moulds, it drains differently from traditional rounds, creating a smoother, more supple texture. A thin, sticky grey-white rind adds depth without overpowering, making this a blue that even the blue-shy often fall for.
Handcrafted in the Highlands by Highland Fine Cheeses under the watchful eye of Rory Stone, Blue Murder is pasteurised and suitable for vegetarians. Rich yet approachable, it delivers flavour in layers rather than force. A true crowd-pleaser with attitude, and a fine companion to something sweet in the glass.
Cheesemaker: Highland Fine Cheeses
Highland Fine Cheeses, passionately created in Tain, Scotland, came to life on Blarliath Farm. This small business operates from the dairy on the farm, producing a unique collection of artisan cheeses.
Founded by Reggie and Susannah Stone, the farm’s cheesemaking legacy began with a complaint about the lack of traditional Crowdie cheese, leading Susannah to start producing it herself.
Today, their son Rory Stone heads the company, focusing on mould-ripened cheeses using milk from local farms. The Stone family’s dedication to traditional methods and high-quality ingredients ensures that each cheese they produce is a true reflection of the Highland’s rich dairy heritage.
